Watsons Bay parental style

I am blogging about  my parents time here completely  out of order. But we have already established that it's my blog and I do what I want:)

We headed out to Watsons Bay the day they arrived in Sydney. And while they started out in stellar form, they definitely were dragging hard core by the end of the day:) But we had some delicious fish and chips. Took in the spectacular city views, then made it to the haymarket, and they didn't officially crash until we got to centerpoint (the mall under the tower). And there we played a fun game of who can find the couch the fastest. It was epic. Until they found a couch....then the game kind of died.

Sharing my infinite knowledge.HA.

Yep, I'm still 5.........

"Look ma!!! NO HEAD!"

Queen of the rock.

Macquarie Lighthouse....I think. I might have just totally made that up.

Dad just holding up the CBD....don't know what Australia does without him...

classic, horrible Meghan face.

At the Haymarket. Dad totally rocking the not-even-a-litttle-bit-manly man bag.
And then they crashed:)

Blue Mountains parental style

My parents figured out photobucket. I'm so proud.

And now I can share all the pics of their time here....cuz let's be honest. You've been thinking my life is not so fabulous lately according to blog posts/lack of blog posts. But really it is. I've just been doing a lot of, like, actually studying. Don't worry it's weird for me too. So all these pictures of what was actually like 2 weeks ago already are a little late.

I took the parentals out to the Blue Mountains, because well it's gorgeous. We say some beautiful fall colors and even though it was a bit chilly, the weather was actually pretty perfect. So enjoy round two of pictures from here.

mum and me:)

The three sisters.

And these stairs just kept on going and going and going. However, we did not.

Oh you know just chilling under the sister to the left in the picture of all three of them.

See the people and the bridge between the mountain and the sister to the far left? No, hmmm well that's where we were:)

Dad and I:)

Fall colors....gorgeous.

On the skyway.

Katoomba falls

Perhaps a little too much when they were still recovering from jetlag....but we had lots to do!!!!

Another fabulous trip to the mountains that are indeed blue....ish:)

mixed emotions.

This post may or may not be me have an emotional meltdown. Feel free to ignore and check back when I have recovered.

I'm over this Australian winter. June is for sunshine and shorts. Not brollies and jackets.

And I'm over school. A week left of classes and then exams. ugh. You would think that with the end in sight I'd be motivated to power through to the finish. wrong.

I have Arizona cravings on a regular basis. People, camp, food, weather....I want it all.

Then I have these "stop being a baby" moments. Where I tell myself I'm being ridiculous and that I'm in Sydney, which is one of the most fabulous cities on Earth, and that I need to enjoy the fabulousness.

Then I remind myself how lucky I am to have this opportunity. Then I remember that I only have a month and 2 days until I'm headed stateside. Then I think of how long it will probably be till I get here again. And then I buckle down and finish my assignments and look forward to the month of adventures that still await me. (ok, so the "buckle down and finish assignments" part hasn't actually  happened yet...but it will!!!)

And then I blog about all of it. lucky you.

Perhaps the smelliest place in Sydney

Ok, ok I know that this probably isn't the smelliest place in Sydney so don't feel the need to go out an indeed find the smelliest place. 1. Because I have no interest in going there. 2. Because that sounds like possibly the worst way to spend a Saturday ever. But anyways The Sydney Fish Market is definitely on the list of top 10. So.much.fish.

In case you haven't figured it out I went to the fish market on Saturday. I had been looking forward to going, and was envisioning some delish fish and chips. Then my stomach was feeling kind of funky. Then I saw what looked like an ocean full of fishies and sea creatures on ice waiting to be lunches and dinners. Then I smelled all of these said creatures. And then fish and chips didn't actually sound that delish. So I bought some delicious foccia bread instead. Yep, went to the fish market and bought bread. Deal with it. But if you are wanting some seafood, let me tell you they have seriously the most seafood I have ever seen in my life. You can buy it straight off the ice and take it home or there are heaps of restaurants that will cook it up for ya right there. Seriously I should have taken pictures of people eating this food. People had massive plates of seafood and then piles of inedible bits and pieces that come attached to sea creatures people like to eat....it was kind of as disgusting as the smell.

So while I probably did not appreciate the fish market to its full level of awesomeness, it is still pretty cool. And weirdly enough we don't have one in AZ....hm. maybe it has something to do with our proximity to any sizable amount of saltwater...

I just want to like oysters because they have shells....

Sea food has to be one of the most unappetizing things EVER.

They tried to make it pretty with the lemons and lettuce. they failed.

I passed this sign on my way home. Seriously, whaaa?????
And I promise it was a legitimate road sign.

Surfing on Bondi

So this is completely out of order, but I felt like blogging and these are the only pics I actually took on my camera. Plus they are just too awesome to wait in a folder on my desktop. Plus there is not rule that blogs have to be chronological...right?? Well not on this blog anyways.

The parentals had a surfing lesson included in their groupon travel pack, and of course, for those of you that know my mother, if it was included they of course were going to do it. Even though I don't think I've ever seen my dad less excited to do something. But if you are going to have your first surfing lesson, Bondi is a pretty epic beach to start at. Even if you go in May which is basically winter in Australia, and the waves were the biggest I'd ever seen at Bondi that day....

I was put off by the super chillyness of the day....and didn't want to pass up the chance to sit on the beach, take pictures, and probably laugh till I cried, so I turned down the lesson and played paparazzi instead.

Notice that they are practically the only people at the beach. Even though it was sunny, it was sooo not beach weather.

Lesson buddies+surf instructor

Looking pro and super excited:)

Yep that's my parents.they looked pretty legit....until they got in the water:)

The current was freakishly strong and so they spent a good portion of time dragging their
boards across the beach/trying to get out into the waves

It was a little slow going so I took a walk:)

Along the coast a wee bit.

He did actually spend some time in the water...promise.

Mom. Looking pro, but really just complaining to me that it was hard:)

See my dad in the middle at the waaayyy bottom? he is in fact half, kinda sorta standing on his board and not on the beach!!!! Success moment in surfing....fail moment in photography.

Beach babes.
I got good pics of dad when he wasn't on his board.....but I don't think he appreciates them much...

Mom!!!! Riding the wave like a pro!
So I didn't actually end up laughing as much as I wanted to, mostly because they were trying so hard and it really was some crap waves for surfing. And I'll admit they gave it more of a solid effort than I was expecting! This blog should inspire you all...if they can do it, you can too:)
